Your first visit

You don’t need to know yoga to begin.

A first class can feel like a lot of unknowns. Here is exactly how to choose, arrive and settle in—so your attention can go where it belongs: your breath and your body.

Reserve your first class spot

Before you arrive

Choose your class

Yoga Foundations or Begin Here offers the clearest introduction. Yin is also accessible if you are comfortable sitting and reclining on the floor; steady Vinyasa is a more active option.

Reserve ahead

Use the timetable to choose Vinyasa, Yin, prenatal or Beginners, then complete the short reservation form. Your first visit can simply be a $22 drop-in, and the studio will confirm the available class directly.

Check your confirmation

Follow the arrival and entry information included with your confirmed booking. If an injury, pregnancy or other circumstance may affect movement, share only the practical guidance your teacher needs.

Pack lightly

What to bring

  • Comfortable clothes: Choose layers that let you move and sit easily. Specialized yoga clothing is not necessary.
  • Water: A closable bottle is useful, particularly for Vinyasa.
  • A mat: Bring your own unless the studio’s approved booking information explicitly confirms loan equipment for your visit.
  • Relevant information: Quietly tell the teacher about injuries, recent procedures or pregnancy before class.

Optional equipment

Bring your own mat. If you like to use blocks, a strap, bolster or blanket, ask about current equipment availability when reserving rather than assuming a particular item will be in the room.

Please silence your phone and leave it with your belongings. The practice room is a screen-free space except where an accessibility or health need requires otherwise.

Inside class

Your practice belongs to you

Yoga is not a test of flexibility. A useful practice can be active, quiet, modified or mostly rest.

1

Follow sensation

Effort and stretch can be present without sharp, pinching or electric pain. Come out of any shape that feels wrong and ask the teacher for another option when you want one.

2

Rest whenever

You never need permission to pause. Sit, lie down or take a comfortable shape while the group continues, then rejoin only if and when you choose.

3

Decline touch

Hands-on guidance is always optional. Teachers explain their consent process, and saying no does not require a reason or change the attention you receive.

First-visit questions

What if I am not flexible?

Flexibility is not a prerequisite; it is only one possible outcome among many. Teachers use props and variations so the shape can meet your body instead of asking your body to match a picture.

Can I eat before class?

A light meal or snack well before class works for many people, while a large meal immediately beforehand may feel uncomfortable. Follow your own needs, especially if you manage blood sugar, nausea or another health consideration.

Which class is best for a complete beginner?

Choose Yoga Foundations, Friday Foundations or Begin Here for slower explanations and repetition. If none fits your schedule, contact us and we will help identify a suitable class from the current timetable.

I am pregnant. Where should I start?

Prenatal classes are designed around the changing needs of pregnancy and are not medical care. Ask about the current teacher and their training when you reserve, and share relevant healthcare guidance privately before class.

What if I have an injury or health condition?

Ask a qualified healthcare professional whether yoga is appropriate and what limits to observe. Share relevant guidance privately with your teacher before class; yoga teachers can offer movement options but cannot diagnose or treat medical conditions.

Is the studio accessible?

Contact us before your visit to discuss your specific access needs and confirm current entrance, restroom, sensory and equipment details. We want to give accurate information rather than assume what “accessible” means for you.
