Your first visit

What to expect

A free first consultation is available to new patients who want to meet us and discuss goals before scheduling diagnostic care. If you are ready for a full new-patient exam, we can arrange that instead.

Before you arrive

Choose Central or South Austin and tell us the main reason for your visit. Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if applicable, a current medication list and any recent dental records or X-rays you have.

During your visit

We review your health history and comfort preferences before looking in your mouth. A diagnostic visit may include appropriate digital images, a tooth-by-tooth exam, gum measurements and a bite or jaw assessment.

Before you leave

Your dentist summarizes the findings, answers questions and separates urgent needs from care that can wait. If treatment is recommended, you receive a written plan and an estimate before scheduling.

Come prepared

A short checklist for an easier visit

  • Photo identification and contact details
  • Dental insurance card and subscriber information
  • Medication, allergy and medical-condition list
  • Previous dentist’s details or recent dental records
  • Questions, goals and any dental anxiety you want us to know about
  • A parent or legal guardian for patients under 18
Insurance and payment

Fewer financial surprises

We accept many dental insurance plans and help you understand how your plan may apply. Insurance is a contract between you and the carrier, so benefits are verified—not promised.

Benefit verification

Share your plan information before the appointment when possible. We’ll ask the carrier about eligibility, deductibles and available benefits, then explain what we learn in straightforward terms.

Written estimates

For planned treatment, we outline the expected fee, estimated insurance contribution and patient portion. Final benefits are determined by your insurer when it processes the claim.

Questions encouraged

If a treatment plan feels hard to manage, speak with us before deciding. We can discuss clinical priorities, possible sequencing and available payment methods without changing the quality of care.

Frequently asked

New-patient questions

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. It is a conversation for new patients to meet the team, share concerns and understand possible next steps. A consultation does not include diagnostic X-rays, a comprehensive exam, cleaning or treatment; any recommended paid services are explained before you agree.

Can I book a cleaning as my first appointment?

The clinical team first assesses teeth and gum health to determine the appropriate type of cleaning. Whether an exam and cleaning can happen together depends on clinical need and appointment availability.

What if I am anxious about dentistry?

Tell the scheduling team when you request a visit so your concerns can be noted. Available comfort accommodations and clinical protocols will be confirmed directly with you.

Can I request appointments for more than one family member?

Yes. Send a separate request for each person so the scheduling team can allow the right amount of time. They will confirm the available visit type, office and time for each appointment.

What if I do not have insurance?

You may still request an appointment. Ask the practice to confirm current fees, payment methods and any options for sequencing treatment by clinical priority.
